NEWS- THE FUTURE OF LLANNEFYDD CHURCH by Gwyn Jones (Warden)

Thanks to all who have supported us recently and you are welcome to write to Mr David Jones, M.P. and Mr Darren Miller at the Welsh Government. protesting at the proposed closure of the church.

The greatest concern is the financial position of the church. At a recent meeting attended by the church wardens to prevent the closure of our beautiful historical church, the diocese reiterated that they wanted to see the church in a far better financial position if it was to survive. They were not interested in the Welsh language and culture nor in supporting rural communities. In relation to Llannefydd Church, an increase in the number who attend the church would be a highly positive step.

Our fate will be decided in early March when a finance plan will have to be presented and demonstrate how the church is going to develop.  If the church were to be spared, a series of events have been organized commencing with coffee and an exhibition at the church on the morning of 26 March from 10.a.m. An opportunity for you to get to know members and the church, and express how you would like the church to be part of community life.

Other events include Easter egg hunt, a talk about some of the characters buried in the graveyard, how well do you know the parish quiz, ghost story reading by candle light and a Christmas tree festival.

With the closure of the school and the potential closure of the church, it’s sad that our community is dying when church members are doing their utmost to keep the church open for all. To achieve this, we need your support financially and through attendance at church events.  In an age of apathy, let us one and all unite to save community life.
